Vaughn17 exemplifies a beacon that’s energized by the determination of refulgent souls who illuminated this path before us. Their spirit empowers our movement, which was birthed inside the trenches. The reverberations from such resonated in the hearts of those who identified with our plight. This encouraged the forging of relationships with other marginalized voices, organizations and coalitions that we proudly stand in solidarity with.
The mission of Vaughn17 is to disrupt, dismantle and destroy the prison industrial complex. We’re just following the writings that were left on the wall. This passage by Frederick Douglass delineates the essence of our audacity:
“If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without demands. It never did and it never will!”
In the name of Love, Life and Liberty we will continue striving to manifest the dreams that our ancestors sacrificed for.
